The New Inn Halse, about 6 miles from Taunton, is often described as a spacious property in a beautiful village setting, convenient for visiting the West Somerset Railway (WSR). Many guests appreciate the well-equipped rooms and the lovely beer garden with heating. While most find the continental breakfast simple and good, a few guests have mentioned that they would prefer a more substantial breakfast, especially considering the room price. Dining is a highlight, with many reporting one of the best Sunday roasts, as well as exceptional food for both breakfast and evening meals.

acceptable stay with limited breakfast

helpful stafflimited breakfast
The staff were friendly and helpful. I MUST say. they were really nice too.
i was VERY disappointed that breakfast was included in the price, all that was provided was a small amount of sliced bread to toast, some yogurts, cereals and a few pieces of fruit. THERE was no cooked breakfast on offer at all, not even scrambled eggs. i would certainly expect a more substantial breakfast.

The staff were friendly and cute. The locals, too. I enjoyed the evening meals. The food was another level, AND breakfast was great also.
The common stairwell could use some updating. It looked a little shabby.

The hotel is decorated sympathetically, it is a true country pub. The bar was busy in the evening. This gave a positive vibe. The ambience was good, and the setting rural and quiet.
